The ideal coating weight depends on the atmospheric corrosivity classification (ISO 12944) of your project site. For dry, indoor conditions, a light coating like Z100 or G30/G40 is sufficient. For outdoor structural framing, a standard Z275 (G90) coating containing 275 g/m² total on both sides is typical. For heavy coastal, industrial, or high-humidity settings, we advise Z450, Z600, or a transition to our advanced Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium (ZAM) coils to prevent early oxidation.
What is the difference between Zero Spangle and Regular Spangle finishes?
Regular spangles represent the classic crystalline zinc flower pattern that appears during normal cooling. Zero (or minimized) spangles are achieved by suppressing the crystal growth during the hot-dip process or adding specific elements to the bath. A zero-spangle surface is highly uniform and flat, making it ideal for downstream coating processes, painting, and automotive skin parts where the raw crystalline pattern must not show through.
